I'm So Amazing

This educational film was created through an Ohio collaborative project powered by individuals who are Deaf, Blind, DeafBlind, Special Educators, researchers, and filmmakers. I’m So Amazing tells the story of the need for action and enhanced services, all centered around the poetry and life experiences of Angie C. Orlando, a DeafBlind writer. Services and opportunities for some people with disabilities in 21st Century America are often misunderstood. Stories such as this are simply unfamiliar to most in the general population, but close to some Americans living with the reality of disability. I’m So Amazing is a creative documentary placing disability in the spotlight. The movie, framed by the writings of Angie C. Orlando, includes information from experts in the disability field to explain some of the root causes of weak accessibility to opportunities and services.

I'm So Amazing Reviews

I though that this film was very well done. I liked how the documentary showed Angie’s sense of humor and personality, and I also thought that it did a good job challenging different groups on their opinions and treatment of DeafBlind people. Everyday people, medical professionals, those providing services, even the deaf community. The documentary challenged all of those groups to consider how they may be overlooking DeafBlind people. I also thought the producers did a good job with the people they chose to interview. The woman who directed the deaf school and also Dr. Berkemeier offered relevant perspectives that helped make the film so informative.

Helped me understand the lack of accessibility in our state and the world. Allowed me to see a clear perspective.

It was very eye opening and it made me think about how I can be part of the solution!

This was a beautifully made film. The message is powerful. I think legislators should see this! This powerfully highlights a very hidden population group. I think it would also inspire interpreting students to seek out training and opportunities to specialize in pro-tactile. Congratulations to all who participated!
